On October 23, 1978 in Washington, DC, Quinten Nicholas McCray was born into a fashion forward hair styling movement. At the age of 14, his dream of professionally creating art, through hair, was realized. He humbly began his career in his mother’s home, mesmerizing his family members, friends and neighbors with his immense talents.
In 1995, while still enrolled in high school, Quinten was recruited to become a stylist by one of the top hair salons in downtown Washington, DC. At 15 years of age, he impressed the well-seasoned staff with his extensive knowledge, styling techniques and trendsetting signature styles. As an incessant student of his craft, he continued to learn and study as he refined his knowledge of color techniques, chemical performances and haircutting precision.
Quinten has traveled extensively mentoring and training an extensive audience of students and stylist with his wisdom spanning all aspects of the cosmetology industry. He has taught classes and seminars at numerous salons including Runway Studios, Hyattsville, MD, Eclectic Images, Charlotte, NC and Tesa for Hair, Harlem, NY to name but a few. Quinten has done prominent platform shows for Nairobi Products Incorporated and for Influance Hair Care Company. He has been featured in several publications and at the Fashion Institute, New York, NY for his prominence in the industry. Quinten has maintained a fundamental belief in continuing his education and participates in courses annually to maintain a master performance level aligned with current methods and developments in the industry.
Quinten’s styling expertise and desire for ultimate perfection has paved the way for him to be called upon by such noted clientele as Grammy and Tony award winning artist, Jennifer Holliday, actress Anika Noni Rose, actress Kimberly Elise, philanthropist and wife of actor Forest Whitaker, Keisha Whitaker, Chief Advisor to President Barack Obama, Valerie Jarret, actress, the late Nell Carter and former Mayor of Washington, DC Sharon Pratt Kelly, Alaska State Senator, Gayle King, gospel artist, Erica Campbell and reality tv star Tracee Braxton in addition to numerous models of the Nordstrom and Mac make-up corporations.
